1. About IAETIF and these Terms
The Intra-African Energy Trade & Investment Forum (“IAETIF”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is an initiative of the Africa Energy Technology Centre (“AETC”). These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of this website, its publications, forms, roadshow information and other digital services that link to these Terms (collectively, the “Site”).
AETC’s published contact address is 1st Floor, 113A Mbabane Avenue, Shiashie, East Legon, Accra, Ghana. References to IAETIF in these Terms include AETC when it operates or supports the Site.
2. Acceptance and eligibility
By accessing or using the Site, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
- You must be at least 18 years old or have reached the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction.
- If you use the Site for an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to act for it and that the organisation accepts these Terms.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Site is lawful where you access it.
3. Purpose of the Site
The Site presents IAETIF’s mandate, market roadshows, participation pathways, research and opportunities to begin commercial engagement. It is an information and enquiry platform. It is not an investment exchange, brokerage service, regulated financial adviser, project-rating agency, procurement portal or binding offer platform.
Submitting an enquiry, registering interest or participating in a discussion does not guarantee admission to an event, a meeting, funding, a commercial mandate, sponsorship rights, project selection or a transaction.
4. Information, research and no professional advice
We aim to keep Site content useful and current, but energy markets, policies, schedules and commercial opportunities change. Unless expressly stated otherwise, content is general information and should not be treated as legal, tax, financial, technical, investment, environmental or other professional advice.
You must conduct your own due diligence and obtain appropriate independent advice before making an investment, procurement, partnership or project decision. Sourced statistics and third-party views remain subject to their original methodology, publication date and terms.
5. Roadshows, events and programme changes
Dates described as confirmed are based on information available when published. Month-only schedules and “to be announced” entries are provisional. IAETIF may change a date, format, programme, speaker, venue, eligibility requirement or participation arrangement where reasonably necessary.
Travel, accommodation, visas, insurance and other arrangements are your responsibility unless IAETIF expressly agrees otherwise in writing. Do not incur non-refundable costs solely in reliance on preliminary Site information.
6. Enquiries and information you submit
You agree that information submitted through the Site will be accurate, relevant and provided lawfully. You must not submit information you are not authorised to disclose.
Do not submit classified, export-controlled, commercially secret, privileged, security-sensitive or highly sensitive personal information through the general enquiry form. Initial submissions should contain only what IAETIF needs to understand your interest and identify an appropriate next step.
You retain ownership of material you submit. You grant IAETIF and AETC a limited, non-exclusive right to receive, review, reproduce internally and communicate that material as necessary to respond to your enquiry, administer participation and assess potential engagement. This permission does not authorise public publication or unrelated marketing.
7. Acceptable use
You may use the Site for lawful informational and professional purposes. You must not:
- interfere with, overload, probe or bypass the Site’s security or access controls;
- introduce malicious code, automate abusive requests, scrape at unreasonable scale or use the Site to distribute spam;
- impersonate another person or organisation, misrepresent affiliation or submit fraudulent opportunities;
- copy, republish or commercially exploit substantial Site content without permission;
- use Site content or IAETIF branding in a way that implies endorsement, partnership or accreditation that has not been confirmed in writing; or
- use personal information obtained through IAETIF for unsolicited marketing or unlawful profiling.
8. Intellectual property and brand use
The Site’s design, text, original research, databases, graphics, IAETIF marks and other original material are owned by or licensed to IAETIF/AETC and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party names, marks, photography and publications remain the property of their respective owners.
You may view and print reasonable extracts for internal, non-commercial reference if you preserve attribution and do not alter the meaning. Any broader reproduction, republication, data extraction, brand use or commercial distribution requires prior written permission.
9. Third-party sites and relationships
The Site links to public sources and third-party websites for context. A link does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, affiliation or responsibility for that third party. Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy practices.
Mentions of governments, companies, institutions, sources or markets do not by themselves indicate that they are partners, sponsors, speakers or participants in IAETIF.
10. Availability and security
We may suspend, modify or discontinue all or part of the Site for maintenance, security, operational or legal reasons. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. You are responsible for using appropriate device security, current software and backups.
We take reasonable security measures, but no internet service can be guaranteed completely secure. Contact us promptly if you identify a suspected vulnerability; do not exploit it or access data that is not yours.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site is provided “as available” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy or availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
IAETIF does not warrant the creditworthiness, authority, capability or integrity of any project sponsor, investor, participant or other third party. Introductions and participation do not replace independent verification, contracting and due diligence.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IAETIF and AETC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, data, goodwill or anticipated savings arising from use of—or inability to use—the Site.
Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the extent permitted by applicable law and proportionate to the Site service concerned.
13. Privacy and storage technologies
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Our Cookie Policy explains cookies and similar storage technologies. The Site’s consent controls allow you to reject non-essential technologies and change your preferences at any time.
14. Changes to the Site or these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect legal, operational or service changes. The revised version will show a new “last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted through an appropriate Site notice where reasonably practicable.
Continued use after an update takes effect means the updated Terms apply to subsequent use. Changes do not retroactively alter separately signed agreements.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and non-contractual disputes connected with the Site are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, without prejudice to mandatory rights that apply in your place of residence. The courts of Ghana will have non-exclusive jurisdiction unless applicable law requires otherwise.
Before starting formal proceedings, please use the contact route below so the parties can attempt to resolve the issue promptly and proportionately.
16. General provisions and contact
If part of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms do not create an agency, employment, joint venture or partnership relationship with any Site user.
Questions about these Terms may be sent through the IAETIF contact form or to AETC at info@theaetc.org.
